The North Country Virtual Manga Book Club is a monthly book club, launched in August 2026 and held via Zoom, open to anyone across the North Country of New York. It is a joint project of the Northern NY Manga Interest Group and will be facilitated by library workers from a range of libraries across the region, including the Akwesasne Cultural Center, Canton Free Library, Fulton Public Library, Gouverneur Public Library, Northern New York Library Network, and Plattsburgh Public Library.
The book club is for all ages. Parental or caregiver guidance and participation is requested for participants under 13. Parents or caregivers of all participants, no matter their age, are welcome.
The group picks a genre or theme (e.g., slice of life, shonen, sports, horror, romance, etc.) for each month. Then, participants pick any manga they want to read in that theme, read it before the meeting, and then come nerd out on it with other manga lovers! Each meeting will include some attendant activities and time for sharing recommendations.
