We’ve made another group, and you can join!

The Northern NY Manga Interest Group is a monthly virtual convening, dedicated to learning about manga, exchanging tips for collection development and programming, and sharing our latest reads. It is made up of library workers from across the seven northernmost counties of New York State, and its members include public library, academic library, and school library workers. Members include manga novices, manga experts, manga curious, and everything in between.

The group meets via Zoom on the first Tuesday of every month from 3:15-4:15pm.

Between meetings, participants read select manga titles in order to later share their thoughts with colleagues. Participants can sign up for as many or few titles as they wish, and they can also simply join meetings to listen. The group ultimately is thinking regionally about coordinated collection development and programming, to ensure wide access to manga for all in the North Country. Interested in manga and its potential for engaging children and teens? A little overwhelmed by the quantity of titles or new to the manga world? Any interested library or cultural worker is welcome to join others from across northern New York for a casual manga reading and interest group, designed to enhance access to manga in North Country libraries.

North Country Virtual Manga Book Club

The North Country Virtual Manga Book Club is a monthly book club held via Zoom, open to anyone across the North Country of New York. It is a joint project of the Northern NY Manga Interest Group and will be facilitated by library workers from a range of libraries across the region, including the Akwesasne Cultural Center, Canton Free Library, Fulton Public Library, Gouverneur Public Library, Northern New York Library Network, and Plattsburgh Public Library.
