The Northern New York Library Network (NNYLN) invites applications for a Business Manager. This is a permanent part-time position (25-30 hrs/week) responsible for office management, accounting, and bookkeeping functions at its office in Potsdam, NY. 

About the Network:  The Northern New York Library Network is a small but very active not-for-profit serving all types of libraries and cultural heritage organizations. Currently, six employees provide services and resources for members in seven northern counties in the state. The Network manages state and federal grants as well as other revenues to support a wide array of services, including New York State Historic Newspapers, New York Heritage, interlibrary loan, continuing education programs, research, advocacy, and the region’s medical information program.

About the position: The successful candidate will have good working knowledge of bookkeeping practices and procedures, Quickbooks Online, spreadsheets, procurement procedures, and office management, including human resource policies. The Business Manager serves as the Network’s Financial Clerk in accordance with NYS Education Commissioner’s regulations. They will administer all budgeting, bookkeeping and accounting activities of the Network and its subsidiaries, including annual budgets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and cash requirements for all programs and funds. They will oversee all aspects of the Network’s benefits package and maintain required records for the Network. The Business Manager also manages the organization’s physical infrastructure, physical plant, and maintenance. They supervise one part-time Assistant Business Manager. The position covers a range of important tasks, requiring a great deal of independent planning and follow through.

Requirements: The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree, with substantial bookkeeping and general business management experience, OR an Associate’s degree in Accounting and 3 years of experience in accounting environment. Not-for-profit experience a plus.

Compensation:  The salary for this part-time position is $58,500 and includes an excellent benefits package consisting of health and dental insurance (100% of premium paid for employee, 50% paid for dependents), a 12% employer retirement contribution, and generous paid time off.
