Library Assistant (PT) – Carthage Free Library (Carthage, NY)

Carthage Free Library is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual to fill the role of Library Assistant, part time (up to 15 hours/week). Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: checking items in and out, pulling holds, processing materials, registering patrons, collecting fines, shelving and shelf maintenance. Customer service skills are a must.
This position will require partnership with the Director to promote programs via publicity releases, flyers, social media, and online calendar.

Qualifications, Desired Knowledge, Skills:
• Ability to relate tactfully and courteously with the public and to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
• Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills.
• A large degree of comfort with technology and social media.
• Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift.
• Ability to perform with minimal supervision, establish and maintain priorities, meet deadlines, exercise initiative, and make independent decisions.
• Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to represent the library in a professional manner.
• Assist with general upkeep and light maintenance of the library.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Graduation from high school or possession of GED

Hours: The standard part time workweek will be up to 15 hours, including some evenings and taking part in the Saturday rotation. Staff may work additional hours on occasion.

Compensation: Starting $13.20 per hour

Access Services Librarian – State University of New York at Potsdam (Potsdam, NY)

 

SUNY Potsdam seeks a service-oriented, student-focused librarian to oversee and guide our circulation, resource sharing, and interlibrary loan department (Access Services) for the SUNY Potsdam community.

This position is an academic tenure-track faculty position, subject to the criteria for reappointment, promotion, and tenure as established by the SUNY Board of Trustees and the Personnel Policies of the College Libraries. The Access Services Librarian will have faculty rank as a Senior Assistant Librarian and State University of New York UUP union benefits.
