Join us next month for another group book read!
Libraries and museums are cultural institutions that both reflect and produce society. Those working within them must serve all members of their communities equitably, and must be equipped to engage in and advance the communal work of building a more just society. Our organizational missions aim for a fair distribution of freedom and opportunity. Racism aims for the opposite. In other words, confronting white supremacy is not just a worthy personal project, it’s mission-critical.
“As everyday white supremacy becomes increasingly vocalized with no clear answers at hand, how best might we approach one another? Claudia Rankine, without telling us what to do, urges us to begin the discussions that might open pathways through this divisive and stuck moment in American history.” (Graywolf Press)
