Sign Language for Librarians

Description: This workshop is a ‘get your toes wet’ introduction to sign language and Deaf culture. Participants learn a variety of things including: basic tips in communicating using sign language, simple signs related to basic communication and resources to help participants continue their sign language and Deaf culture education. The workshop includes group instruction, demonstrations, and activities.
Presenter: Miranda Johnson Stefano is a librarian, technologist, and bibliophile. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland iSchool and RIT School of Print Media. She enjoys sharing knowledge with others and is always looking for new opportunities to do so. Her specialties are communication, sign language, technology, and information literacy.
Lunch and refreshments provided.
There is no charge for this workshop, but registration is required.
