About the Position:
The Wead Library is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Library Director 1. The library is an active community center serving a vibrant, rural and school community. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of library operations.
The Ideal candidate will be a community leader – building relationships with community groups, employees, patrons and the Board of Trustees. Candidates should feel comfortable initiating and executing capital projects.
The Library Director is responsible for all library functions, implementing library policies, and supervision of personnel. Duties include, but are not limited to developing library budget, administering the expenditure of library funds, preparing state, local and other statistical, narrative or financial reports, supervising maintenance of library property, consulting with Business Administrator Malone Central Schools, and developing long-range plans for library service and evaluating the effectiveness of services and programs in conjunction with the Board of Trustees.
Master’s degree in Librarianship from an ALA-accredited school and recognized by the NYS Education Dept. as following acceptable educational practices and a minimum of 2 years professional library experience.
Eligibility for an NYS Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate at the time of application. Possession of NYS Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate at time of appointment.
The position offers a hiring salary of $50,000+ commensurate with experience and benefits.
The appointment will be provisional pending a Civil Service Examination to be announced at a later date. Successful candidates must be reachable on the Library Director 1 list with Franklin County.
